“Save the Owls” started as a grassroots effort in Spring of 2021 when a beloved family of Great Horned Owls suddenly began to die in Philippe Park. Residents organized in person and virtually to try to save this owl family, that often had 50-60 people photographing and admiring them. The Tampa Bay Times featured an in-depth, front-page article about this on 11/27/22. There are over 1,900 members on our Facebook page “Safety Harbor Strong Owls and Wildlife”. "Save the Owls" has two goals, the first is education/advocacy to stop people from choosing lethal anticoagulant rat poisons, and the second effort is to rescue, rehabilitate and document (prove the cause) of wildlife victims of rodenticide poisoning.
OUR GOALOur raptors are being negatively effected. We're changing that. |
